One Woman’s Facebook Post Sparks Community Wide Support

When Joy Farina saw the images of Afgani women handing their babies over barbed wire fences she was moved into action. Within a week Joy and Dennis Farina were welcoming a refugee family of 6 into their home.

Pastor Amanda learned about the Farinas and the Mbengo Family from a Facebook post Joy made in a “Buy Nothing Group” looking for donations to help the family get settled. The community response was incredible! And Pastor Amanda was so inspired by what took place she wanted to get Joy and Dennis on the podcast to tell more of their story.

Find out how you can help the Mbengo Family get settled using this Google Doc that Joy talks about in the interview.

If you are interested in getting more involved with refugee resettlement efforts locally, the Farinas have been involved with World Relief.
