2024 Giving Tree & Christmas Collection

This year, we have 3 Ways to participate in the Giving Tree & Holiday Collection to Support PRPC Mission Partners!

The Giving Tree is how we support kids at Christmastime with gifts and gift cards. The Giving Tree supports Casa Central and Christopher House.

The Christmas Collection is for toiletry items for The Night Ministry.

Find out how you can be a part of bringing comfort and joy this Christmas to our mission partners.
All items need to be returned to PRPC by Sunday, December 8th.
Casa Central
Casa Central is our Priority Mission Partner for 2024. To close out the year with a bang, the Mission Committee has committed to providing actual gifts for all 84 of the 2-to-5-year-old children in the Early Learning Academy program!

The Giving Tree works as follows:

For each of the 84 children, we provide a tag with the child’s name, gender, age, clothing size, and wishlist. There will also be a gift tag with the child’s name and a sign-up tag where you’ll write your name and contact info and hand it back to us. When you take a tag, you agree to purchase a gift for that child, wrap it, and return the wrapped gift to PRPC by December 8. You will secure the gift tag provided on the wrapped gift before dropping it off at church. The sign-up tag allows us to follow through and make sure we have all the gifts.

The Giving Tree Committee will deliver the gifts to Casa Central after all are collected. Although there is no set amount to spend on these, Casa Central suggested an amount of at least $25 per child and has reminded us that, in many cases, these will be the only gifts these children receive.

If you’d like to get the name and wish list of a child but may not be at church, contact Laura Nelsen by email at hawkfanlaura2@gmail.comand she can provide the name and wishes of a child.

Christopher House
Christopher House has again requested that we support its holiday ministry with gift cards. Christopher House tells us that gift cards grant the families the dignity to shop for presents for their children themselves.

The Giving Tree Committee will be collecting Target gift cards in the amount of $35 for Christopher House to give to the families it serves. We will have tags you can pick up to show you plan to support this part of the Giving Tree.

The Night Ministry

The Night Ministry distributes Christmas stockings to homeless adults in Chicago at Christmastime and we are again providing stockings for this program. We will have empty stockings with the list of requested items that are helpful for people living on the street. To support this, grab a stocking, purchase the items on the list, and return the filled stocking to church by December 8. The Mission Committee will deliver the stockings to the Night Ministry for distribution.
